Site-Specific Collaborative Live Art Performances
If you go down to the woods
If you go down to the woods was a performance created in 2009 – 2010. Initial ideas were shared at Hampshire Dance’s choreography platform Café Choregraphique. Following on from this The Dance Movement took a collection of fairytales, cut and spliced these into a new order and dressed these with music, text and dance. Specifically made for children and families the dance required the audience to decide what stories and characters were unfolding before their eyes.
To date the work has been performed at “Celebrating Surrey”; this particular performance incorporated two community youth groups alongside The Dance Movement’s professional dancers and required the audience to follow the dance as it travelled around a small cluster of trees. It was also performed in the summer of 2010 at Potter’s Gate School in the school playground under a TREE for the whole school to enjoy.
