Leg-It dancer nominated for award

We are really proud of the boys who have been taking part in Leg-It, our boys-only after school dance project at Christ’s College, Guildford and Weydon School, Farnham.

The classes have focused on performance, fitness, contemporary dance techniques and improvisation. The boys have worked relentlessly to make the project a success and have managed to overcome a degree of prejudice and peer pressure.

One particularly heart-warming story is that of Ben who has recently been nominated for Young Sports Personality of the Year in the Sport Guildford Awards 2016.

Having been introduced to dance in years 7 to 9, Ben decided to pursue dance as a GCSE. To help boost his experience, Ben’s teacher encouraged him to join Leg-It.

Leg-It has provided Ben with a place to be himself. He has progressed from being a quiet member of the group to a confident leader and is an inspiration to the younger lads. He is focused, respectful and committed and always supports other group members.

Since joining Leg-It, Ben has dramatically improved his fitness, strength and ability in dance and is a much respected member of the dance team. He has proven to himself that he can set goals and achieve them through hard work and self-belief.

The awards will be presented on 12 October at George Abbot School and we wish Ben the very best of luck.
