History
The Dance Movement has been running since 1999. A not-for-profit company limited by guarantee with charitable objectives, The Dance Movement was originally set-up by Jeannette Brooks as a regional touring contemporary dance company. Operating successfully for 7 years with funding from ACE the company enjoyed success touring nationally & produced a high profile catalogue of successful dance educational projects in High Wycombe, Bracknell, Reading, Henley & Newbury. Relocating to Farnham Maltings as a resident dance company, in 2004, The Dance Movement began researching & developing the community dance needs of Farnham & its surrounding communities.
In 2006 The Dance Movement began a transitionary phase with Jeannette Brooks leaving to pursue a career with Hextable Dance as the Artistic Director. The current administrator of The Dance Movement Rachel Palmer took the reins of the company and drove it in the direction of community dance. Developing a youth dance initiative programme Rachel worked under the mentorship of Jeannette Brooks devising & delivering a community dance project in Farnham named Positive Charge. In April 2006 Rachel became the Programme Director of The Dance Movement with a new Board of Directors being elected to support the new frame work.
