The Dance Movement shortlisted as a community hero
We are delighted to be in the running for an award from the BBC.
The Dance Movement was nominated for a Community Hero award by Farnham Town Council for outstanding contributions to Farnham in Bloom and the town’s Dance Festival. The annual BBC Surrey Community Heroes Awards recognise unsung heroes across the county. The Dance Movement made it to the shortlist for the music and arts category with just two other nominees.
“Being shortlisted with two other amazing nominees for a BBC Community Hero Award is wonderful! I’m thrilled that BBC Surrey recognises the value of dance to the community and honoured that they regard our contribution to the people of Farnham with such esteem. The Dance Movement is all about helping people connect through dance; this shortlisting shows us we’re doing the right things to achieve that. I’d like to thank Farnham Town Council for nominating us”, says Rachel Palmer, Programme Director of The Dance Movement.
Rachel and Dr. Laura Saunders (Chair of the The Dance Movement) is invited to the awards ceremony on 20 November. Event highlights will be broadcast on the radio on 26 November (4pm to 5pm) and then again on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. Keep your fingers crossed that we will bring home a trophy to Farnham!
The awards, which are run in conjunction with BBC Sussex, are in their seventh year and recognise unsung heroes across Surrey and north east Hampshire.
