Performed in Alice Holt Forest, Traces was a collaborative site specific dance.
Traces brought together over eighty dancers from six local schools and dance groups with professional dancers.
Artists Mary Branson and Programme Director at The Dance Movement Rachel Palmer collaborated to create a work based on the notion of traces that people create and leave behind in space, but also the traces that environments may leave on a person
Sequences of solos, duets and groups using white objects such as balloons, umbrellas and wellington boots presented a human relationship to the woodland space. The white objects highlighted the bodies in the forest, which was further reflected by the accompanying soundscapes.
The Dance Movement secured funding of £3,000 from Sportivate to deliver this project. Sportivate provide funding for young people to engage in physical activity.
