Rachel has directed The Dance Movement since 2006, alongside this role she has built up a varied portfolio career as a freelance dance artist, manager and choreographer.
Whilst at The Dance Movement Rachel has worked to develop a dance audience at the Company's home Farnham Maltings. Audience development projects have included presenting professional dance artists and companies: Yael Flexer, Theo Clinkard, Rannel, Banksy & Curtis James; organising specialist dance workshops for dance artists and young people; delivering weekly community dance classes and devising her own dance performances.
As a choreographer Rachel's most recent projects have included working on the Olympic Legacy Trust funded project "Tree of Light" under the Artistic Direction of Charlie Morrissey, she received a commission from South East Dance to make an outdoor dance work for Big Dance 2012, she was commissioned by G Live to create The Birth Of Stars (2013) which received funding from Arts Council England, she was commissioned by the University of Creative Arts Farnham to create Dancing in Space (2014), and worked in partnership with Farnham Town Council to deliver the outdoor dance performance Farnham Blooming (2015) on a cast of 150 young people.
Rachel has extensive experience in managing dance events having worked as the General Manager at Woking Dance Festival, July 2007 – Dec 2012. In that time Rachel managed performances by international and UK based dance companies and led on the management of participatory projects; notable projects that Rachel worked on included: City Maquette by Mathilde Monnier, Glow by Carol Brown, Flag by Lea Anderson, Where the Land Meets the Sea by Charlie Morrissey & Marja Fly Fly by Cecile Bertrand de Lis,.
