Move Outside 2011

Move (Outside) was the second half of the Move project created for an outdoor space as a site specific piece and was an extension of the first Move project.

Performed at Frensham Heights School in the surrounding woodland, the project explored a similar concept of what it is to move, and be moved. However, the notion developed to consider how to create site dance for alternative spaces and how dance might look to the natural environment for inspiration in choreography. The project took place between January and March 2011 involving the same group of dancers from each of the schools that took part in the initial project.

Move provided the young dancers with the opportunity to explore alternative dance spaces, but also the chance to work with professional dance artists who led the performances. This was another driving point for the project, for young people to experience the project with professionals, to enrich their experience of dance.

Move Outside was funded by Sport Unlimited, Active Surrey via Sport England with a grant of £3,500 and generated £600 in box office sales.

Partners in the Move Outside Project included Weydon School, All Hallows Catholic School, Farnham College, Abbey School, Ash Manor School, and Frensham Heights, who were a main partner providing the venue for the performance.
